Ingredients

2 ripe bananas, mashed

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

1 cup brown sugar

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/3 cup cocoa powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

1/2 cup chocolate chips (dark or milk)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line an 8x8-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving some overhang to help lift out the brownies later.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the mashed bananas and melted butter. Mix until well combined.

Add the brown sugar to the banana mixture and stir until smooth. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.

In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.

Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

Gently fold in the chopped walnuts and chocolate chips if using.

Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.

Let the brownies cool in the pan for about 15 minutes, then lift them out using the parchment overhang. Let them cool completely on a wire rack before slicing them into squares.

Serve and enjoy the rich, fudgy banana bread brownies!
